Get Involved

We operate with 3 staff members and more than 100 volunteers! We are grateful for every hour that our volunteers give us – and we couldn't do what we do without them. If you're interested in putting your talents to work, we are happy to find a place for you! We have 3 ways to volunteer:

Our Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is made up of community leaders who can think big, will make connections for us, will support and advocate for our projects, and are able to balance the needs and concerns of both the residents of Beverly and the business community. Directors serve on a committee for at least a year before being invited to join the Board.

Our Committees

Do you want to lend your voice, skills, or time to Beverly Main Streets? We are always looking for volunteers to help run events, roll out our committee initiatives, or apply to serve on one of the committees themselves. See below a description of each committee’s role.

Economic Vitality

The Economic Vitality Committee takes time to review zoning and city ordinances that impact downtown Beverly. Converting underused space in the district into economically productive property that helps boost the profitability of the city. Our goal is to suggest changes or additions that build a district that responds to the specific needs of our consumers while maintaining Beverly’s historic character.

Economic Vitality Committee Co-Chairs: Jamie Engel & Paul Gentile

Design

The Design Committee works to create and manage the look and feel of downtown that is inviting for visitors and community members alike. Taking on specific projects throughout the year to bring attention to all the visual elements in our district to convey all Beverly has to offer. This Committee helps develop our annual Banner Sponsorship Program, our Garden City planting initiatives, and our recurring networking series Beverly Creative Connection.

Design Committee Co-Chairs: Gary Moffie & DiAnn Sherk

Promotions

The Promotions Committee aims to establish partnerships between various (groups/businesses) in our Beverly Main Streets District. We accomplish this by creating and marketing annual events, effective advertising, and public relations. We work to highlight our district’s unique characteristics and history to visitors, residents, and potential business owners.

Promotions Committee Co-Chairs: Kat Batten Wrenn & Katie Upchurch

Engagement

The Engagement Committee forges partnerships across the community, maintains strong community engagement, and builds leadership and strong organizational capacity.

Committee Chair: Heather Beaulieu

Downtown 2030

The Downtown 2030 Committee aims to form a collective vision of the future of downtown Beverly, in partnership with City officials, business leaders, and residents. DT2030 has the ultimate aim of identifying key components we want to see in our downtown, and forming a strategic plan to take action on these collective goals.

Downtown 2030 Committee Chair: Paul Gentile

Our Events

We host several major events throughout the year that require two types of volunteers: those who can help plan and manage the event and those who can volunteer on the day of the event. We look for volunteers who can think big, some who can dive into the details and some who like to raise money! Event committees typically meet bimonthly for the 3-4 months leading up to an event. There are often work assignments to be done in between the meetings (like listen to bands, put up lawn signs, etc). On the day of the event, we need volunteers who can be on hand for the entire event or for a minimum 2-hour shift.
