SUMMARY:First Friday: Hearth Cooking at the Balch House
DESCRIPTION:Step back into the 17th century and experience the sights\, smells\, and flavors of early New England at Historic Beverly’s First Friday program at the Balch House. \nJoin us for a live hearth cooking demonstration in the c. 1680 kitchen of one of Beverly’s oldest surviving homes. Using period tools and techniques\, our interpreters will prepare traditional foods over the open hearth while sharing stories about daily life\, seasonal ingredients\, and the labor that sustained early colonial households. \nDiscover how meals were prepared without modern conveniences\, learn about the rhythms of food preparation in early America\, and explore how cooking connected families\, communities\, and cultures. Visitors will have the opportunity to ask questions and see historic recipes brought to life in an authentic setting. \nThis free program offers a warm and engaging way to connect with Beverly’s past. Drop in\, gather by the hearth\, and experience history in action.

DESCRIPTION:Come check out The Ladies Entrance during one of our monthly Come Create Nights! \nHere at the Ladies Entrance we focus on creating in community and sparking all kinds of connections. Bring your super awesome self and whatever creative project you are currently working on or have been wanting to start. \n* Don’t have anything at home that is calling out your name? We have everything under the sun here – yarn\, paint\, stamps\, pastels\, fabric\, felt\, magazines\, even clay! I am happy to get you started on an art form you are interested in\, with the studio supplies we have here. You can let me know what you would like to do and I can have the supplies ready for you when you arrive. \n*Still not sure but you know you have a creative hankering? I also usually have a project idea come to mind depending on what inspiration I have the days leading up to the event. Sometimes your inspiration doesn’t arrive until after you get here 😉 so don’t worry about that! \n*Bring a friend! Bring your mother! Bring your daughter! This is a community craft night for all people who identify as women\, all ages. Our studio is pretty cozy\, so spots are limited. DESCRIPTION:Learn the Art of Kinusaiga with Sew Envious on Saturday\, May 9th from 2pm-4pm (during the Mom Crawl)! Kinusaiga is a sustainable Japanese “no-sew” art form that creates detailed pictures by tucking fabric scraps into grooves cut into a foam board. \nAll supplies will be provided and no previous experience required! \nCan’t attend\, but want to give it a try? Take home kits will be available during the event.
