DESCRIPTION:Our annual Friends of the Beverly Public Library Spring Book Sale begins on Saturday\, April 6 and runs through Sunday\, April 14 at the main library. The sale will be open daily during regular library hours. Paperbacks are $1\, hardcovers $2\, and all children’s books are .50 (two for $1). \nDo you have items to donate? We’re currently accepting donations of gently used books\, movies and music. Donations can be dropped off in the Children’s Room on the ground floor of the main library\, or at the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor.  \nAll sale proceeds benefit the library\, and help to pay for things like programs for all ages\, our museum pass program\, library furnishings\, and more. With 35 years meditation experience to draw on\, Eileen offers workshops on various aspects of meditation and spirituality. Eileen has studied under a world renowned meditation teacher and been to India many times to deepen her practice and share this technique with others. \nShe has written\, Through the Stars\, an illustrated book for young children and is illustrating stories that will eventually become part of a series of mystic stories for children. \nEileen demonstrates how\, in the middle of a jam-packed\, daily schedule\, you can integrate your meditation practice into your own busy life.

It was a place to pick up mail\, the newspaper\, and perhaps chat over a cup of coffee and a warm wood stove. In talking about “New England’s General Stores\,” broadcast journalist Ted Reinstein shares the rich and colorful history of this iconic institution\, how they figured in the rise of early American commerce\, why they began to fade\, and why they have begun to come back and even be re-invented and re-imagined for a new era. Told with anecdotes from a variety of local landmark stores across the region\, the presentation is accompanied by the award-winning photography of Art Donahue. \nA Q&A session and book signing will follow the presentation.
