DESCRIPTION:Presented By Shadows of Salem Horror & Paranormal Convention \nCome celebrate 50 years of a rip roaring chain saw from Texas with screams of excitement and praise to honor the members of the original cast and crew for the years of horrifying nightmares! \nFeaturing…\nJohn Dugan “Grandpa” \nEd Guinn “The Truck Driver” \nEd Neil “The Hitchhiker” \nDaniel Pearl\, Cinematographer \nIn 1973 a small group of film students in Texas conjured a story and a small amount of money to create a film so shocking and violent that they left a permanent scar on celluloid and the public conscience\, forever changing cinematic history. \nThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre was unleashed unto the world in October of 1974 by Director Tobe Hooper and co-written with producer Kim Henkel\, the film stars Marilyn Burns\, Paul A. Partain\, Terri McMinn\, Allen Danziger\, William Vail\, Edwin Neal\, Jim Siedow\, John Dugan and Gunnar Hansen as Leatherface. Upon release\, the film was deemed so violent that it received an X rating and was banned in multiple countries. Contributing to the response was the billing of the film as a “true story”\, which was a marketing ploy to further affect audiences in an effort to attract more movie goers. \nWhat is impressive about the reception and filmmaking talents is that there is very little to no blood in the film which had audiences react in visceral ways as some passed out in their seats while others were sent running for the doors in shock and disgust. \nThe Texas Chainsaw Massacre is widely revered as one of the greatest and most controversial films of all time! \nOver the past 50 years\, the film as been recognized for its lasting presence and genre defining qualities. In addition to regular touring\, Cash has partnered in programming collaborations with Carnegie Hall\, Lincoln Center\, SFJAZZ\, the Minnesota Orchestra\, and the Library of Congress. She served as artist-in-residence at New York University and in 2018 and 2023 she was a resident artistic director at SFJAZZ. \nAlong with many other honors and awards\, Cash received the 2021 Edward MacDowell Medal\, awarded since 1960 to an artist who has made an outstanding contribution to American culture. DESCRIPTION:John Oates is cofounder of the iconic music creators Hall & Oates\, as well as an accomplished solo artist. \nHe is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame\, The American Songwriters Hall of Fame\, recipient of the prestigious BMI Icon Award as well as numerous American Music\, MTV awards\, and multiple Grammy nominations. \nSince forming his creative partnership with Daryl Hall in the early 1970s\, they have gone on to record 21 albums\, which have sold over 80 million units\, making them the most successful duo in rock history. They have scored 10 number one records\, over 20 Top 40 hits\, and have toured the world for decades. Their involvement in the original “Live Aid” concert and the groundbreaking “We Are The World” charity recording have further established them as legendary artists\, who have personally and through their music\, stood the test of time. \nSince embarking on a solo career in 1999\, John has recorded seven solo albums: Phu Phunk Shui/ 1000 Miles of Life/ Mississippi Mile/ The Bluesville Sessions/ Good Road To Follow/ Arkansas and Live from Nashville with the Good Road Band. In addition\, his 2017 autobiography “Change of Season” released by St. Martin’s press\, became an Amazon best seller. \nIn 2023 he released a series of new original digital singles distributed by “The Orchard” in a wide variety of eclectic styles as well as penning another series of songs for the feature film “Gringa”. Oates continues to be involved in his passion for automobiles and motorsport with his collection of sports cars and active participation in concours events and the Porsche Club of America.
