For founder Jade Chen, opening this space wasn’t part of the original plan. After years of showcasing her art at local markets, she imagined continuing down that path. But when she saw the storefront at 296A Cabot Street become available, she felt an unexpected spark. “It felt like too good of an opportunity to pass up,” Jade recalls. “With Beverly’s strong support for small businesses, the art college right across the street, and the energy of the community, it just made sense.”

Jade’s mission is simple but powerful: to provide a dependable space for creativity and connection. The shop highlights work from local artists, offers accessible price points for customers, and incorporates sustainable practices—like sourcing secondhand materials to reduce waste.

Workshops, community collaborations, and partnerships with other small businesses are already on the horizon. “Human connection is at the heart of everything we do,” Jade says. “If we aren’t connecting, we can’t uncover the needs, wants, and opportunities that help us grow.”

Opening a new business hasn’t been without challenges. Between permits, prep work, and family life, Jade admits there were plenty of late nights and moments of guilt—especially when her young son and pups had to spend long days at the shop. But thanks to her supportive husband, friends, and Beverly’s strong small business network, Jade says the experience has been both grounding and inspiring.

Still in its early stages, Jade of All Trades is already carving out its role in the community. Jade dreams of growing into a larger creative co-op, a place people instantly associate with a fun, safe, and artsy-fartsy atmosphere. In the meantime, the shop is focused on building connections—between artists and customers, and between creativity and community.
