LEAN IN TO YOUR PURPOSE AND LEAN ON COMMUNITY: THE STORY OF SEVEN SPINNING WELLNESS AT CASA CALMA
FORGING A PATH & FINDING YOUR RHYTHM
Stephanie Evans first began her business as a mobile massage therapist in 2018, eventually renting a small room in a local wellness center. During this time she was working a full-time job, but unfortunately was laid off when the pandemic hit. Stephanie thought to herself, “Okay, this is my chance to go all-in on my business and finally grow it the way I’ve always wanted.” However, she explains that imposter syndrome took hold and it wasn’t until mid-2025 and a second layoff that she was able to truly embrace her calling and lean fully into growing her business. Now, she has her own space at 186 Cabot St where she offers “mindful, holistic practices that help women navigate change with clarity, grounding, and tools they can return to anytime”.
Like any business owner taking the plunge, Stephanie has had to find her rhythm. When a sudden cardiac arrest struck, she was forced to find a new balance between work, clients, and her own healing. She was able to sift through the obstacles of self-doubt and discover that “[her] purpose for being alive…was right in front of [her]: Seven Spinning Wellness and Casa Calma”.
BUILDING COMMUNITY & STRIKING A BALANCE
Now, Stephanie has built a supportive client base that keeps growing. She shares that her clients are the core of her work, and her favorite aspect of owning a small business. She describes her mission as supporting “women through the many stages and transformations of life. Postpartum, menopause, career shifts, health challenges, emotional transitions, spiritual awakenings and anything else life throws at you”. Whether it’s growing a family, overcoming challenges in work or life, or pursuing that lifelong dream, Stephanie thrives on helping guide the process and building that trust.
Like many of Stephanie’s clients, she is a dedicated mother and is committed to her family, never missing a basketball game day. She acknowledges that sometimes you have to learn the lesson of balance the hard way. If you don’t “find balance and rest, the universe, your body, life, will force you into it. Self care is absolutely necessary”.
MAINTAINING AUTHENTICITY
Through the journey of starting and maintaining a small business, Stephanie has discovered the incredible value of believing in what you do, even when it feels impossible. Others will see your commitment to yourself and your work, and that belief will transmit to them. She advises, “know that YOU are the business so you have to believe in yourself. Momentum and consistency is key, not perfection! And trust your instincts and be authentically you because that is your greatest strength”.
MOVING FORWARD WITH INTENTION
As Stephanie continues to expand her business, she keeps community engagement at the forefront. Whether it’s participating in a downtown event like Arts Fest or Trick-or-Treat, accepting donations for local organizations such as Beverly Bootstraps, or working with fellow business owners, she recognizes the value of supporting each other. “I love collaborations!” she shares. “I offer Women’s Circle, Sound Baths, Full Moon Healing and Pop-Up Shops and love having other women in business come in to offer their services or products.”
Her long term goals include growing her clientele and having a small team of other practitioners with shared passions and goals. Seven Spinning Wellness at Casa Calma has been her full time work for a mere six months, and while the business has grown she knows she must keep advocating for her work. “It feels like starting over again and I need to get my name out there so I can expand and keep growing something I think is really beautiful.”
