Join authors to celebrate Alena Dillon’s debut novel, Mercy House, in conversation with Ioanna Opidee, at Atomic Café in Beverly on February 13 at 6pm, hosted by Copper Dog Books.
Mercy House is about Sister Evelyn, an irreverent 69-year-old nun who is investigated by the Vatican for breaking church doctrine in how she runs her women’s shelter in Brooklyn. Evelyn will go to great lengths to defend all that she loves. She confronts a gang member, defies the church, challenges her own beliefs, and faces her past.
Amy Schumer calls it “the book we’ve all been waiting for” and Publishers Weekly calls it a “stirring and fiery debut.”
Ioanna Opidee is the author of Waking Slow, which was reviewed in the Boston Globe as an “arresting, timely” take on sexual assault and its aftermath, taking place on a college campus in Boston.
