Flow State: 4-Week Fluid Acrylic Ink Exploration

What happens when we loosen our grip on the outcome and let the materials lead?

Flow State is a four-week exploration of fluid acrylic inks for adults, with lots of room for experimentation, movement, layering, and play. Each week we’ll try something a little different, building on what came before and seeing where the materials take us.

This is for you whether you haven’t made art in years, don’t consider yourself “artistic” at all, or have been making art for a long time and want to loosen up, experiment, and play outside your usual style. There’s no right way to do it, and no finished product you need to arrive at.

In the final week, we’ll return to some of our dried paintings with fine-line markers and see what has emerged—shapes, pathways, figures, little worlds—and develop them through drawing.
