Tell us your favorite poem! You may get the chance to read it at a free public event on Thursday, March 26 at 7 PM in the Sohier Room.
Submit the name of your favorite poem, author, and briefly tell us why the poem has significant meaning to you. Your poem can be inspiring, sentimental, dramatic, classical, a sonnet, whimsical, even lyrical…as long as it is a poem that has been published in print at some point in time…but no limericks please.
Twelve to fifteen poems will be selected to be read. Each reader will receive a $10 gift card to Copper Dog Books, Cabot Street in Beverly. All entrants will be eligible to win a $25 gift card to Copper Dog Books plus a $25 gift card to neighboring Atomic Cafe at a single drawing to be held the night of the poetry readings.
The entry form is now open! Find the entry form at https://beverlypubliclibrary.org/favpoem/. ENTRY DEADLINE IS MARCH 14, 2020. Poem entrants selected to read will be notified on or about March 20.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a new and separate event from the Annual Teen Poetry event that will be held April 29.
Visit this page again in early March for announcements about special guest readers, and on March 23 to see a list of invited readers.
Entries will also be accepted via mail: Favorite Poem Reading, Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex Street, Beverly MA 01915. (Please include your name and telephone number.)
This event is being sponsored by the Beverly Rotary Club and the Beverly Public Library.
