Moraine Farm Walking Tour

June 19 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$5.00 – $10.00

Step into Beverly’s natural and historical landscape for a guided hiking tour through the historic grounds of Moraine Farm.

This special program continues Historic Beverly’s popular Hiking Tours Around Beverly series, following last year’s exploration of Beverly Commons. Combining local history, environmental interpretation, and landscape exploration, the tour offers participants a deeper understanding of how Beverly’s natural features shaped the city’s development over centuries.

As we hike across Moraine Farm, participants will learn how glaciers and the Ice Age formed the dramatic terrain that still defines the area today. The tour will also explore the influence of J. C. Phillips and the Phillips family on the property, the agricultural and conservation history of the landscape, and the story of Wenham Lake and Beverly’s internationally significant ice harvesting industry. Along the way, participants will discover how geology, industry, transportation, and preservation intersect within this remarkable North Shore landscape.

This program will involve moderate hiking over uneven terrain and wooded paths. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for outdoor conditions and bring water, bug repellent, and sturdy hiking shoes.
